David was treated to a yummy assortment of Mooncakes along with Dim Sum while at the Hilton in Kuala Lumpur. Now, raise your hand if you don’t know what a mooncake is….I see many hands raised so let’s take a closer look! Just like David did: (Click pics to enlarge)

The Flower Drum Song is a famous 1950s novel which depicts the story of a wealthy Chinese refugee who resists modern culture but ultimately finds a balance between embracing the new while still celebrating tradition.

Inspired by this story, Chef Chan Teck Woo of Chynna is showcasing this year’s signature mooncake – Flower Drum.

A modern take on the classic mooncake, it is handmade from the finest ingredients and filled with the most luxurious silky textured Lotus Paste with a Soft Custard Egg Yolk centre. This delicious filling is enveloped in a delicate snow skin casing in a soft purple, traditionally the royal colour of the Emperor of China.

This year, our award winning mooncakes come in eleven varieties, which include traditional baked mooncakes with red bean paste and almond flakes, our five nuts variety and more. For a modern take, try Blue Moon, our snow skin Amaretto lotus paste mooncake with blueberry cheese Feuillantine or Yellow Moon, our 2010 signature mooncake filled with Violet flower essence & chocolate center with brandy flavoured lotus paste.
